Beste almal

Dear all

We are proud to launch the new support web page for SUNeTD<http://etd.sun.ac.za/jspui/>, the full text repository for theses and dissertations at the University of Stellenbosch. This was truly a team effort with Anita, Hilton and Wouter assisting with information and solving issues all the time. A huge thanks to them for their excellent support!

The SUNeTD help page can be accessed from http://library.sun.ac.za/etd/index.htm or from the English version of the web: http://library.sun.ac.za/index.htm
Please remember: it is still work in progress, and minor changes might be added with time. The Afrikaans version also still needs to be developed. Please use the current instructions in Afrikaans for the interim. We would also welcome your feedback, suggestions on how to improve the web, etc. Please don't hesitate to e-mail scholar at sun.ac.za<mailto:scholar at sun.ac.za> re any suggestions, complaints, etc. you might have. Addressing the needs of our clients is of major importance to us.

Some tools you can also try out (see web page):

1. Scholar is now also tweeting/ twittering<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitter>! Create an account and follow news from the Scholar Office on Twitter by becoming a Follower. See http://twitter.com/usscholar

2. Events etc. will also be published on Facebook. We would like you to become a fan as well by logging in and visiting http://www.facebook.com/pages/Stellenbosch-South-Africa/University-of-Stellenbosch-Scholar/181640938009

3. Clients can now also Skype us, so that we can respond to their needs in synchronous time. Our Skype name is usscholar.

The above are Web 2.0<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2.0> tools, as is a repository such as SUNeTD<http://etd.sun.ac.za/jspui/>. We would like to encourage you to explore these tools if you haven't already, and ensure that you stay in touch with new IT developments and the tools used by the net generation - the clients we serve every day. Through these tools we can also increase the visibility of research conducted at US, and market new services.

You are welcome to communicate the above to your departments.

With kind regards,
Ina (on behalf of the e-Repository Team)
