[Ojs] Launching of OJS journals: 26 October 2011

As indicated before, international Open Access Week is celebrated each year during the last week of October. This year the focus will be on launching OJS at SU, with SU becoming the first academic institution in SA to host and digitally preserve OA journals which are in some way affiliated with the University. Many of you indicated that you would like to make use of this opportunity for the launch of your own journals.

So far we are planning the following:

-          Keynote address by Prof H. Russel Botman or Prof Arnold van Zyl

-          Panel discussion with Stevan Harnad<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stevan_Harnad>, Peter Suber<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Suber> and 3rd person from SA

-          Launch of 9 journals

-          Etc.

Once again we will involve the media as far as possible, and hopefully we can once again broadcast all in real time, thereby reaching audiences from all over the world. It would therefore be the ideal opportunity to give your journal the exposure it deserves.

Kindly diarise Wednesday the 26th of October for the above event. You've been instrumental so far in making a success of all, and we would really like you and your editorial board to not only attend the event, but also to launch your online journal during the above, giving a short presentation.

If you can't present yourself, you are most welcome to appoint someone else on your behalf to do the launch.
