International Professional Recognition Council for Research Management: Call for nominations

The International Professional Recognition Council (IPRC) was established in 2017 as an autonomous body that awards professional recognition to research managers through peer review of a portfolio of evidence. The IPRC is an outcome of ongoing efforts by the Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA) to elevate the profession of research management in Southern Africa and Africa at large. Through the professional recognition process, research management practitioners can be awarded the Research Management Professional (RMP) or Senior Research Management Professional (SRMP) designation based on their level, experience and achievements.

The expertise of the IPRC membership is vital for the success of the professional recognition process and as such the IPRC is composed of experienced research managers representing the African and international research management community. IPRC members are appointed for a three-year period with the option to renew the membership for another three-year period. The IPRC operates virtually but aims to bring the members together once a year for an in-person meeting. Such meetings will be aligned with a relevant research management event which most of the IPRC members will be attending.

After the first three years of operation, the IPRC is pleased to invite nominations from the research management community in the following membership categories:

1.Individuals who serve in the position of Pro or Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research (or equivalent).
2.Individuals who serve in the position of Director of a Research Office (or equivalent) at a university or a research institution.
3.Individuals from key Agencies and/or Organisations involved in the research and innovation system.

There are two vacancies in each category - one for an individual from the Southern African region and one for an individual from the rest of the Pan-African region.
