[IRTalk] Hilton Gibson passed away

It is indeed sad to know that Hilton is no longer with us.  His contribution to the Open Access movement, and especially his involvement with the DSpace community will be sorely missed. UCT has benefitted much from his willingness to teach and to impart his knowledge to us. He has assisted many to set up repositories, and these repositories represent the monument of his generous spirit. Go well, my friend.

Dear IR Community member,
it is with great regret that I have to inform you that our Open Access colleague, Hilton Gibson, passed away this morning after a struggle with pancreatic cancer.
Hilton was know for his irreplaceable contribution to the DSpace and Open Access community in South African and the African continent at large.
