Similar to persistent identifiers for researchers assigned through ORCiD, persistent Identifiers for organisations across are assigned through ROR, and are becoming increasingly important through linking metadata contained in different systems. This in turn leads to systems being connected to one another, communicating with one another. Read more at https://ror.org/
"ROR is the Research Organization Registry, a community-led project to develop an open, sustainable, usable, and unique identifier for every research organization in the world."
