[IRTalk] DOAJ journals - download & use in Excel

Dear Paul & Nason
Thank you so much.
Paul – if there are no Tanzanian journals on DOAJ, it can mean different things:
1. No journals from Tanzania have applied to be evaluated, or they have applied, but were rejected because of not adhering to the criteria.
2. There are no Open Access in journals in Tanzania?
Hopefully – with more awareness created, this can be rectified.
DOAJ is the original and trusted list of high quality Open Access journals. We recommend using DOAJ as point of departure, and not any other lists. Often – if the journal is not listed it can also be because of many things:
1. It has been evaluated, but did not adhere, or are predatory if not on the DOAJ.
2. It still needs to apply for evaluation.
The DOAJ team are experts across disciplines, and also rely on the community to make sure only trusted high quality Open Access journals are listed, all being watch dogs.
Black lists or predatory lists are not sustainable, and often dependent on the evaluation of one evaluator only – not acceptable.
Thank you for assisting with populating DOAJ with making sure only trusted journals are included. We all need to be constantly aware of fraud within the digital environment.
Kind regards
Ina

Dear Paul,
The list is actually a data dump from DOAJ therefore for Tanzanian journals to be on this list, they have to be registered with DOAJ. Having your journals in DOAJ helps with their discovery and more importantly creates the trust with the would be audience.
