[IRTalk] Hilton Gibson passed away

Hi Leti,

I am very sad to hear about this. As Sarah said, we only met him once when travelling through Stellenbosch with Ina but he certainly made a big impression on both of us. We were struck by his passion and energy which was truly inspiring. He certainly won't be forgotten and here's hoping that the legacy of his tremendous efforts are continued.

Many thanks for sharing this sad news. Hilton was a well-respected advocate over here too, and Joy and I enjoyed his colourful tour of Stellenbosch when we ran into him during one trip.

Dear IR Community member,

it is with great regret that I have to inform you that our Open Access colleague, Hilton Gibson, passed away this morning after a struggle with pancreatic cancer.

Hilton was know for his irreplaceable contribution to the DSpace and Open Access community in South African and the African continent at large.
