Many thanks for sharing this sad news. Hilton was a well-respected advocate over here too, and Joy and I enjoyed his colourful tour of Stellenbosch when we ran into him during one trip.

Dear IR Community member,

it is with great regret that I have to inform you that our Open Access colleague, Hilton Gibson, passed away this morning after a struggle with pancreatic cancer.

Hilton was know for his irreplaceable contribution to the DSpace and Open Access community in South African and the African continent at large.
