Dear members of the Libraries for Research Data Interest Group (L4RD),

Below is the agenda for the upcoming meeting in Barcelona. The meeting will take place on Friday April 7, 2017 from 9-10:30am.

We look forward to welcoming our two new chairs to the group: Andi Ogier and Birgit Schmidt!

We are also looking for volunteers for the lightening talks. Please get in touch with me if you are interested. We are looking for short descriptions about what RDM services you have adopted in your library.


Libraries for Research Data

Research Data have become a primary research asset that often requires continued access in the dynamic environment of mobile researchers, volatile repositories, transient products and short-lived standards. Libraries have looked after written research assets for centuries and now tackle the challenge of adapting their function to making data reliably accessible and reusable. The aim of this group is to building capacity in the library community for managing research data including building skills, identifying competencies, and supporting the adoption of RDM services.

  *   To share information about current activities in academic libraries
  *   To discuss how we can support the library community in adopting and expanding their services
  *   To identify specific activities that can be undertaken by the IG or WG (or other organizations) to support RDM in libraries

  1.  Welcome to new chairs (Michael Witt)
  2.  Introduction to the L4RD group (Kathleen Shearer)
  3.  Lightning talks (4-5 talks, 10 minutes each) (Wolfram Horstmann)
  4.  Bringing research data management into the library mainstream (moderated by Kathleen Shearer)
