UP SPACE DATA CAPTURER (PERMANENT PART-TIME POST FOR 25 HOURS PER
WEEK)
PEROMNES POST LEVEL 13

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be responsible for:

Capturing data for the UP Space institutional repository;
Capturing data for the a variety of sub-programmes in the Open
Scholarship Office, such as research papers, ETDs, special collection
materials;
Rendering a client support service including personal, telephone and
online contact, consultation and help.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Grade 12 and one year work experience in the information sector;
Proven experience in Adobe Acrobat and the Microsoft Suit (including
e-mails and web searches).

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

Very good language and word processing skills;
Very good computer skills;
Proven knowledge of institutional repositories;
Proven knowledge of copyright and Creative Commons licencing.

PLEASE NOTE: All shortlisted candidates may be required to participate
in relevant skills assessments as part of the selection process.

The total remuneration package for this position ranges from
approximately R 98 303 to R 114 701 as determined by UP policy
guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to
standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral
cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies
per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and
contributes 31,25% of the applicable monthly premium.
