"New Frameworks for Improved Web-based access to Scholarship" with Prof Herbert van de Sompel
HELIG invites you to a mini seminar by Prof Herbert van de Sompel, to be presented at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (Bellville) on 2 December 2014 from 09:30 - 12:00.
Prof van de Sompel is a librarian and computer scientist, known for his role in the development of the OpenURL framework which led to the development of link resolver software widely used in academic libraries; Open Archives Initiative (OAI); Object Reuse and Exchange; and the OAI Protocol for Metadata Harvesting. Currently at the Los Alamos National Laboratory Research Library, he leads the Digital Library Research and Prototyping Team. More recent efforts that he has been working on include Memento (time travel for the web, version access) and ResourceSync (resource discovery and synchronization).
