Hi Sean & Craig
I am still playing around with this issue... at the present moment the internet traffic is standing still which makes it practically impossible to update or install anything from the internet...
I am trying to pull of the file Craig's got on their ftp site... if the university internet cuts out I will try Vodacom G3.
>>>>I wonder if you wouldn't be better off doing that also, and defining your http proxy in an environment variable rather than in settings.xml?
As the dspace user, try:
export http_proxy="http://lreid:<your_password>@proxy.al.ufh:8080<http://lreid:%3cyour_password%3e@proxy.al.ufh:8080>"
(I think that's the correct syntax ...)>>>>
Sean please see my /etc/environment file below
GNU nano 2.0.7 File: environment
PATH="/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games"
ANT_HOME="/usr/share/ant"
JAVA_HOME="/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk"
CATALINA_OPTS="-server -Xms384M -Xmx512M"
JAVA_OPTS="-Djava.awt.headless=true -Xmx512M"
CATALINA_HOME="/usr/share/tomcat5.5"
CATALINA_BASE="/var/lib/tomcat5.5"
TOMCAT_HOME="/usr/share/tomcat5.5"
export http_proxy=http://lreid:******@172.20.0.7:8080
I have add this yesterday... I think it's correct...?
I have tried the mvn clean install from /home/dspace/
I have tried the mvn -U package from /home/dspace/dspace-1.5.2-release/
I have tried the mvn -e package install from /home/dspace/dspace-1.5.2=release/
still getting BUILD ERROR , BUILD FAILURE...
The download from the CSIR ftp site is almost done... and I will try and see if I can install the MAVEN PACKAGE as Craig explained...
Will keep you all posted on my progress...
Thank you to all the prompt replies...
Regards
Lindsay

Hi Lindsay,
It sounds like a corrupt download - try 'maven -U package'. After you have downloaded mvn, save the .m2 directory somewhere as you can reuse these files for every installation.
I have put installation scripts on our external ftp server if you want to try them out.
ftp://ftp.csir.co.za/SS/ICT/CStrydom/dspace-install/dspace-install-110909.tar.gz
Its size is about 38Mb and you will find a rudimentary howto guide when you extract it.
I found it works best on a new server installation with user 'dspace' configured as first user.
Let me know if you have any trouble.
Regards,
Craig.
