Dear Colleagues
SUNScholar Usage Statistics
Our aim with SUNScholar<http://scholar.sun.ac.za/> is to make SU research as highly visible possible, so that in the end the increase in citations will impact on your personal ranking, the ranking of the journal you publish with, as well as the university's ranking. In addition to viewing the statistics for individual articles/theses/dissertations on SUNScholar<http://scholar.sun.ac.za/>, we also use Piwik<http://piwik.sun.ac.za/> (SU IT supported statistical tool) to monitor usage. SUNScholar<http://scholar.sun.ac.za/> will be turning 5 years old this year, and we would like to share the following usage statistics with you:

Help us populate SUNScholar with your research articles!
You can help us populate SUNScholar with your articles by submitting it yourself. This includes articles funded via the SU Open Access Publication Fund<http://library.sun.ac.za/English/services/oa/Pages/su-oafund.aspx>. The only requirements:
- It must be the post-print version (without publisher branding) (should you no longer have the post-print or never received it, request it from the publisher, or contact us for further advise)
- Submit in pdf format (save in MSWord as pdf)
- File name should be: surname_firstwordoftitle_year.pdf e.g. smith_analysis_2011.pdf
- Send us an e-mail request, and we will register you as a Submitter. The rest is easy!! SUNScholar will also clear the copyright and see that we adhere to all legal requirements.
Names and Surnames in SUNScholar
We acknowledge that every time you publish, it might be under a different form of your name. It also depends on the journal requirements. There are excellent tools available to bring together all research conducted under your primary name. Research identification tools such as ORCID<http://orcid.org/> can generate a researcher id for you, and then create a list with links to all your research. The ORCID<http://orcid.org/> id can also be embedded into the metadata of your SUNScholar research items. To register, click here<https://orcid.org/register>. Read more<http://ukwebfocus.wordpress.com/2012/11/19/why-you-should-do-more-than-simply-claiming-your-orcid-id/> about ORCID id and why you should register.
