<p>This is the approach that we have followed in Mozambique. Our NREN, MoRENet, is explicitly mentioned in the recently (2018) approved Information Society Policy of Mozambique. MoRENet is also explicitly mentioned as NREN of the country in the National Broadband
Strategy of Mozambique approved by the Government in 2017. </p>

<p>This approach has been helping us in in Mozambique in the dialogue with the government and in mobilizing support from development partners and from the government departments.</p>

<p>There is a lot to be done to position NRENs in the appropriate level of attention by the African governments. </p>

<p>The NREN CEOs and their respective board have also to do a lot to persuade and convince the government on the role or contribution of NRENs in the achievement of the national social and economic development plans, the plans of the governments. In my opinion
and experience this is crucial aspect. The NRENs that are not able to mainstream their activities in the national social and development plans, in the science and technology, education, and ICT sectors will face serious difficulties in the dialogue with other
sectors like finance (Tax Revenue Services, Regulators, etc.)</p>
