The author of the paper proceeded to file a lawsuit against him.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p><span style='font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333'>Diego, a fellow member of the OpenCon community, could now be sent to prison for up to eight years, simply because he shared an academic article with other scientists—something many researchers do everyday as a workaround to our broken system for communicating research results. <strong><span style='font-family:"Arial",sans-serif'>If Open Access were the default, Diego’s case would not exist.</span></strong><o:p></o:p></span></p><p><span style='font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333'>Diego’s final hearing will be this Wednesday, January 25.
