<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"" class="gmail_msg">The theme, <i class="gmail_msg">Shaping the academic library of the future: adapt, empower, partner, engage</i> is partly based on the recent OCLC report,
<i class="gmail_msg">Shaping the Library to the life of the user: adapting, empowering, partnering, engaging</i>. In this report it becomes clear that “research and learning needs are changing. Higher education is reconfiguring. As a result of these massive changes, the library
 must pivot and adapt”. The sub-themes of the symposium programme include <i class="gmail_msg">Digital innovation shaping the future of academic libraries</i>,
<i class="gmail_msg">Collaboration and partnerships driving academic success</i>, <i class="gmail_msg">The user experience</i> and
<i class="gmail_msg">New technologies and its adoption by academic libraries</i>.<br class="gmail_msg">

<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"" class="gmail_msg">We would like to highlight some of our distinguished speakers for this symposium:
<b class="gmail_msg">Dr Andrew Cox</b> is a Senior Lecturer at the Information School, University of Sheffield in the UK, where he heads the Digital Societies Research Group. He is also the Postgraduate Director and Coordinator of the MSc in Digital Library Management and was
 the director of the JISC funded <a href="http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/is/research/projects/rdmrose" class="gmail_msg" target="_blank">
RDMRose</a> and LFHE funded <a href="http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/is/research/projects/wickedways" class="gmail_msg" target="_blank">
Wicked ways with RDM</a> projects. Dr Cox is a Fellow of CILIP and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. The title of his presentation is
<i class="gmail_msg">Libraries and the wicked challenge of Research Data Management. </i>It will analyse the range of ways libraries are engaging with Research Data Management and discuss what the profession's strengths and weaknesses are in making this contribution.

<p style="margin:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt" class="gmail_msg"><b class="gmail_msg"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"" class="gmail_msg">Kate Robinson</span></b><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"" class="gmail_msg"> is the University Librarian at the University of Bath in
 the UK. She is a Theology graduate from the University of Manchester with a Masters degree in Library & Information Studies. She has worked in libraries since the 1980s, contributing to a range of sectors including public libraries, private members’ libraries
 and the advertising industry. Kate’s interests are user focused and she particularly enjoys collaborative projects which experiment with new ideas and new technologies. The title of her presentation is
<i class="gmail_msg">Regional Partnerships: how to turn good ideas into reality</i>. The presentation will highlight a research partnership where the University of Bath Library has been actively engaged with three other research-intensive institutions in the UK. The institutions
 have been working on a number of collaborative library initiatives in support of the institutional research ambitions.</span><u class="gmail_msg"></u><u class="gmail_msg"></u></p>
