Already funder institutions have started to implement policies to make Data Management Planning mandatory (eg Horizon 2020, NRF). Researchers now compile Data Management Plans and submit to funders. In the end the data sets are stored somewhere, e.g. <a href="http://www.re3data.org/">re3data.org</a>, DIRISA Infrastructure (in SA – currently in development), or on other reliable (accredited?) data repositories. DOIs are assigned to data sets to monitor the usage and impact. A new automated workflow expected in the future.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Century Gothic","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Century Gothic","sans-serif"'>The best example of Open Science from SA probably the way discoveries were done around <i>Homo Naledi</i>, everything open from the start – from the methodology, to the data, to the <a href="http://elifesciences.org/content/4/e09560v1">article</a>. School children could access the <a href="http://www.forbes.com/sites/kristinakillgrove/2015/09/19/how-to-print-your-own-3d-replicas-of-homo-naledi-and-other-hominin-fossils/#818099463b25">blue print of the fossil</a> from the Internet, all while the research was still in progress. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Century
