use the publishers’ version. My view: This could be a win-win solution – the researcher gains since he/she doesn’t have to pay for access, and the publisher gains since the journal receives more citations, impacting on the journal impact factor. Personally
I support this way. In the end the publisher can gain lots of publicity through Open Access. See how we apply it. So far nobody has complained:</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Yes, that’s the standard way of doing Green OA everywhere: If you don’t have a subscription to the journal, use the OA version, but always cite the canonical version (the journal citation).</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">It’s completely irrelevant to even mention which version a researcher “actually uses” (journal, xerox, copy from author, OA version, online on-paper etc.). Authors will learn to make sure that the OA version of their paper is the same text
and images as the publisher version (though the format and pagination might differ). When citing or quoting specific passages, users should refer to them by section name and paragraph number if they do not have access to the canonical paginated version. This
is no problem whatsoever in the era when text is searched by online character-string search, not pagination.</p>
