The Library Publishing Coalition has launched an AI Editorial Policy Guide<https://us.list-manage.com/6yIHFQtQXWJ?e=9b2b294ba6&c2id=12e73a7f0d540fdcaa8b7b1e0baa3024> or https://librarypublishing.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/AI-Editorial-Policy-Guide-LPC-2026.pdf

The guide provides practical advice on how to develop and maintain an AI editorial policy, including the importance of establishing a working group, consulting stakeholders, defining the scope and purpose of the policy and setting up a process for review and ongoing updates.
It also outlines key elements that journals may wish to include, such as guidance for authors, editors and peer reviewers; expectations around transparency and disclosure; accountability for the accuracy of submitted work; and cautions around privacy, intellectual property and the use of unpublished manuscript content in generative AI tools.
The document includes examples of existing AI policies from journals and publishers, as well as further resources that may help editorial teams develop policies suited to their own journal context.
