Developing Research Data and Software Management Policies
https://dcc.ac.uk/events/developing-research-data-and-software-management-policies

DCC and RDA Europe are hosting a series of virtual workshops and drop-in sessions to help organisations to develop or update research data and software management policies. Participating organisations will consider the context for their policy, analyse existing research data and software management policies to identify good practice, and develop a plan for policy implementation. This course provides participants with both theoretical and hands-on experience to help ensure that their research data and software management policies are FAIR-enabling and realistic in scope.

The training course is divided into three virtual workshop sessions and one virtual drop-in session. During the virtual workshops, participants will learn how to develop and implement research data and software policies and have time to begin developing or updating their own policy with their teams. The optional virtual drop-in sessions provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions and to get advice as they work on their policies. Upon completion of the workshops, participants will have developed a solid understanding about good practice in effective research data and software management policy development and implementation and have drafted a policy or a policy update for their own organisation. Participating teams will also benefit from a review of their draft policy/policy update by RDA Europe and DCC trainers using the FAIR-enabling data policy checklist.

Audience:
This course is aimed at those in any research support role, including research data management professionals, librarians, data stewards, and administrators who are responsible for, or interested in, developing a new research data policy or updating an existing one.

As policy development and implementation requires collaboration and input from several areas of the organisation, this training workshop is targeted toward organisations and each participating organisation will be encouraged to send up to three representatives to join each of the workshops and drop-in sessions.

Cost:
The cost of the training is £441 per organisation. As noted above, each organisation can have up to three members of their team participate in the workshops and drop-ins. The fee includes participation, all training materials, and individualised feedback from RDA Europe and DCC trainers on your draft or updated research data and software management policy.

Places are limited to 20 organisations.

Dates:
This 4-week workshop will be offered twice with identical content—once in July and once in September. Please select the ticket corresponding to your preferred dates when registering
