Dear friends,
Sharing below on behalf of the Local Organising Committee
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Good Morning,
We are pleased to invite you to attend the 27th International Symposium on Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD 2024)<https://etd2024.unza.zm/>, which will be held from November 4-6, 2024 in Livingstone, Zambia.
You are particularly encouraged to attend this event if:
* You work for an organisation (such as Universities, Research Institutions, Government Ministries, NGOs et al.) that produces publications and/or documents that are shared with the general public.
* You are keen to learn about cutting edge techniques in Library and Information Science, especially those related to scholarly research output and research data.
The ETD international conference is organised by the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD)<https://ndltd.org/> and has been running since 1998. This year's event (ETD 2024) is the second time the event is being held in Africa. ETD 2024 will be hosted by the University of Zambia<https://unza.zm/> and co-hosted by the Higher Education Authority of Zambia<https://hea.org.zm/> and Zambia Research and Education Network<https://zamren.zm/>.
The theme for this year's ETD 2024 conference is "ETD Visibility at a Global Scale". While the conference largely focuses on ETDs, this year's event aims to focus on a broad range of topics that are applicable to other entities other than Higher Education Institutions. The topics to be covered include:
* Setting up of repository platforms
* Using persistent identifiers such as DOIs to improve the visibility of research
* Using Artificial Intelligence Large Language Models for improved visibility of scholarly output
* Using ORCID identifiers for improved discoverability and reuse
We have conformed participation from the following internationally recognised entities:
* DataCite<https://datacite.org/>
* Crossref<https://www.crossref.org/>
* ORCID<https://orcid.org/>
* ProQuest<https://www.proquest.com/>
* Virginia Tech<https://www.vt.edu/>
In addition, the main conference will see 18 full research paper presentations and a number of poster showcases.
We are happy to prepare an individual invitation letter should this be useful in helping you solicit sponsorship from your employer to attend this event.
For further information, please email the ETD 2024 Team at: etd2024-info at unza.zm<mailto:etd2024-info at unza.zm>
We look forward to hosting you in Livingstone.
Best wishes,
Lighton
