Subject: Journal Publishing Practices and Standards (JPPS) announced today

Dear AJOL Associates and partners

We are delighted to be officially launching the Journal Publishing Practices and Standards (JPPS) framework today. JPPS is a far-reaching initiative for assessing the quality of the publishing processes of journals in the Global South. JPPS has a dedicated website - www.journalquality.info<http://www.journalquality.info> - with text in English, Spanish and French.

JPPS in a nutshell:
The Journal Publishing Practices and Standards (JPPS) framework (www.journalquality.info<http://www.journalquality.info>) provides detailed, developing-country-sensitive and internationally accepted assessment criteria for the quality of publishing practices and policies of Southern journals.

For readers and authors, they provide assurance that an assessed journal does meet an internationally recognized set of defined criteria at a particular level. For journal editors, the detailed feedback from the JPPS assessment helps them identify specifics ways to improve their work with a view to achieving a higher level at the next assessment.

JPPS has been developed in partnership with INASP.

The launch coincides with the COASP meeting<https://oaspa.org/conference/> today, at which Sioux Cumming of INASP is presenting a poster. Other launch activities include:
