A Library Carpentry Workshop will be taking place on 30 September - 1 October at Wits University. To register for the workshop at Wits kindly visit https://nwu-digitalhumanities.github.io/2017-09-30-lc-south-africa/

During the 2-day hands-on workshop we will focus on learning more about useful tools for librarians.

Library Carpentry is made by librarians, for librarians to help you:

* automate repetitive, boring, error-prone tasks

* create, maintain and analyse sustainable and reusable data

* work effectively with IT and systems colleagues

* better understand the use of software in research

*         and much more...
Library Carpentry introduces you to the fundamentals of computing and provides you with a platform for further self-directed learning.

Please note that the workshop is different from the LIASA Library Carpentry Pre-Conference Workshop (Sprint) to be presented on 2 October. The sprint will focus on group discussions, hands-on sessions for getting involved in the international Library Carpentry Community and guidance on how to run your own local Library Carpentry Workshops. It is highly recommended that you attend both the workshop (free) and the LIASA Pre-Conference Workshop (click here<http://www.liasaconference.co.za/registration/>).
