[IRTalk] Hilton Gibson passed away

Dear Colleagues

It is an incredible loss, and difficult to come to terms with Hilton no longer around. Still feels unreal. We all learned so much from him, and like many of you said, his work is visible everywhere, and it will always remind us of his contributions. I worked with him since 2009, and SUNScholar, SUNJournals, his wiki, were his pride, among others. He also assisted ASSAf and LIASA with system installations.

Thinking of all of you, and those that were close to him, during this difficult time. May we all find comfort in that he lived his passion close to the end.

it is with great regret that I have to inform you that our Open Access colleague, Hilton Gibson, passed away this morning after a struggle with pancreatic cancer.

Hilton was know for his irreplaceable contribution to the DSpace and Open Access community in South African and the African continent at large.
