Just to clarify, this isn’t strictly true. For work programmes released after 1st January, projects have to consider taking part in the pilot but they decide which data to make openly available. It doesn’t mean making all the data they generate open, hence the ‘as open as possible, as closed as necessary’ mantra.

It’s still a bit step towards openness though

This means that as of January 1st 2017, all funded proposals will need to make all of the data and digital research outputs they generate openly available.
