[IRTalk] Libraries & Open Access Journal Publishing: OJS Version 3 has been released

Dear Colleagues

In addition to OA institutional repositories (green route), universities and other research institutions have also started publishing and taking ownership of their scholarly journals through publishing their own OA journals (gold route), rather than making commercial publishers responsible for publishing it. OJS is a user-friendly online journal management system, making the transition to online much easier for journals. Libraries worldwide are playing a major role in terms of providing support to trusted scholarly journals, ensuring journals are interoperable in terms of metadata and other compliancy issues, making sure scholarly content is widely disseminated. A few SA universities have started publishing their own, e.g. Stellenbosch University, University of Cape Town, University of the Western Cape, and the University of Free State are also in the process of rolling out this new service.
