[IRTalk] SANLIC post: Libraries will be forced to reduce budgets over next decade

Based on the argument presented here by Brian Kantor, SANLiC members should expect the Rand to continue to depreciate against the Dollar (and other major currencies) at a rate of 7% per annum over the next ten years. Unless library budgets increase in Dollar terms at the same rate, SANLiC member libraries will be forced to continue to reduce their collections over the next decade. Unless of course, if publishers realise that their high and ever increasing prices are unsustainable and begin to reduce their prices in order to match the drop in demand.
