*[image: cid:image001.jpg at 01CF8FD9.62E87370]**High Level Training Course on
ISO 16363 for Managers of Digital Repositories* *Washington DC – 19-23 Oct
2015*.

I’m pleased to announce another opportunity to learn, from the authors,
about the three standards which are fundamental for trustworthy digital
repositories. These important ISO standards are:

   - ISO 14721:2012 (OAIS <http://www.oais.info> – a reference model for
what is required for an archive to provide long-term preservation of
   digital information)
   - ISO 16363 <http://www.iso16363.org/standards/iso-16363/>:2013 (Audit
and certification of trustworthy digital repositories – sets out
comprehensive metrics for what an archive must do, based on OAIS)
   - ISO 16919 <http://www.iso16363.org/standards/iso-16919/>:2014
(Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of candidate
trustworthy digital repositories – specifies the competencies and
   requirements on auditing bodies)

These three standards form a closely related family and an understanding of
their principles and use will become increasingly important in establishing
an internationally recognised and certified set of trustworthy digital
repositories.

The aim is that at the end of the course, repository managers should be
able to understand what a repository which seeks certification needs to do,
what questions they may be asked by auditors and what kinds of evidence may
be presented. Auditors should be able to understand what to look for in a
repository, what kinds of questions to ask and what issues should be probed.

Registration for this High Level Training Course on ISO16363, Washington DC
19-23 Oct 2015, is now open - please complete the form at
http://www.iso16363.org/courses/future-courses/washington-dc-oct19-2015/.
The cost is $2250 if you register before Sept 30th and $2500 after that
date.

Regards

..David
