Dear Colleagues
Maybe consider promoting both Open Access, authority of information, Wikipedia and ORCID this year, during OA Week.
ORCID already serves as a form of authority control in wikipedia<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:ORCID#Template_in_sister_projects> and various developments continue to happen. There are three ways we can use ORCID identifiers in Wikipedia:
* In articles about people
* On user pages
* In citations
Andy Mabbett is the ORCID Wikipedian-in Residence<https://orcid.org/blog/2014/06/04/announcing-orcid%E2%80%99s-wikipedian-residence>. Andy put together a poster<http://pigsonthewing.org.uk/2014-05-21-ORCID-in-Wikipedia.pdf> last year which highlights how ORCID is used in various Wikipedia platforms. The contact details for Matthew Buys, ORCID Regional Director Africa & Middle East:
