[Irtalk] Role of research librarians re data curation

Dear Colleagues

Apart from the role of research librarians to assist researchers with data management planning (from the DCC workshop presented by LIASA last year), it is important for research librarians to know and understand how data curation works. See http://www.data-archive.ac.uk/create-manage/life-cycle

Also - following the NRF Open Access Statement where funded researchers are required to deposit data sets - research librarians should be able to recommend possible data set repositories to researchers.

Many SA institutions are doing great work in this regard already! It would be great to learn more about what is going on where! Please share with us, so that we can make the information centrally available for all to learn from. Many thanks!
