LIASA Open Access Week Virtual Kick-off Event
Libraries from all spheres play an important role in making information accessible to its communities. An informed nation is an educated nation.
LIASA announced its commitment to Open Access during the LIASA Annual Conference held in East London from 3-7 October 2012. During this event LIASA signed the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities. Other highlights included the establishment of a LIASA Open Access Standing Committee, and the scholarly journal of the association, the South African Journal of Libraries and Information Science<http://sajlis.journals.ac.za/pub>, under editorship of Prof Jaya Raju, going Open Access.
This year LIASA has gone further by including Open Access Week - celebrated worldwide from 20-26 October - as one of its corporate projects. It is therefore a huge privilege to invite all libraries to join us for the following webinar:
