[Irtalk] Technische Universiteit Eindhoven: Negotiations with Elsevier in danger of collapsing

Universities are seeking to go for full open access to scientific
publications. But chances are that as consequence of the controversy over
open access, students and staff will not be able to view articles in top
journals as from next year.

Negotiations between Dutch universities and Elsevier concerning
subscription fees and open access have run into serious problems. In
keeping with government policy, universities are trying to achieve open
access to scientific publications. Elsevier has recently made a proposal
which completely ignores this essential change. Universities now hope that
Elsevier is willing to review its stance.
