[Irtalk] Musings about librarianship: How academic libraries may change when Open Access becomes the norm

Assuming open access is inevitable, I feel it is only  a slight
exaggeration that the upcoming disruption to academic libraries will
potentially be bigger than the shift from print to digital for librarians. *For
good or ill, in the last 20-30 years or so providing access to journal
articles behind paywalls was the major purpose of academic libraries as
seen by faculty and students and open access will change that.*
