[Irtalk] Gold route and the role of SA libraries

Dear Colleagues

I was wondering what the HEI landscape in SA looks like in terms of representation on journal editorial boards, and journals affiliated with individual SA HEI's. Nobody at our univ. could indicate which journals are affiliated in some way with our univ, which lead to the start of a wiki page to get an idea. The wiki page is at http://wiki.lib.sun.ac.za/index.php/SUNJournals/list I hope to - at some stage - also add the ISI, SCImago and Google metrics.

Does your univ. have an idea of activity in terms of the above, and does someone take ownership of it? Might it be something the library can contribute to - especially in order to identify journals which might be possible candidates to become part of a journal hosting service (gold route) by your library? Is there a need for training in our country on hosting OA journals by libraries?

Would love to get an idea and get your feedback on this?
