Hello everyone,

On behalf of COAR, I would like to extend a big congratulations/felicidades
to our colleagues in Argentina- especially Silvia Nakano and Paola

Today the "Ley de Creación de Repositorios Digitales Institucionales de
Acceso Abierto, Propios o Compartidos" was unanimously passed by the Senate
in Argentina. The law requires that the country's scientific institutions make
their research output openly accessible.

This is the second open access law passed in South America this year, along
with a law that was passed earlier in Peru. It is fantastic news all around
and reflects of the growing worldwide momentum for open access, which is
especially strong right now in Latin America!

A full news story can be found here (in Spanish):

All the best, Kathleen
