<div dir="ltr">The African Library and Information Associations and Institutions (AfLIA) was launched during the 2013 African Library Summit, which was hosted by the University of South Africa (UNISA) in Pretoria, South Africa.<div>
<br></div><div>One of the key objectives of the 2013 African Library Summit was to review progress made with regard to the implementation of the Framework for the Future of African Librarianship.</div><div><br></div><div>
This framework was intended as a follow-up to the work of the Exploratory Committee, which was established during the 2011 Summit with the task to investigate the formation of a Continental African Library Association, as well to provide a platform for discussions on leadership development in Africa<div>
