the workshop was a success in terms of the outcomes we set for ourselves to

it was great to see so many representatives from different institutions (HE,
NRF, CSIR, HSRC, etc.) gather together with a common goal and purpose and a
willingness to network and share with one another. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class=MsoNormal>Please note that all the course content is available on the

including a link to some of the photos we have managed to upload in the meantime

We had to compress the photos i.o.t. upload such a large quantity and haven’t
finished that process yet, hence the fact that some more photos will be added in

</span></span><![endif]>Agbor Kandeh (NRF), Marius Odendaal (HSRC) and Craig
Strydom (CSIR) have agreed to act as the founding members of a DSpace Community
in SA. This is not separate from the existing Sivulile initiative (<a
href="http://www.sivulile.org">http://www.sivulile.org</a>) or any other South
African initiatives (listservs, NETD project, DISA, etc.) to support and
advocate Open Access and Institutional Repositories within a (South) African
context, but rather compliments what is already in place. We will
eventually move the existing wiki from the Stellenbosch website to another more
appropriate site to reflect this national approach. Sean Carte (ESAL /
DUT), Neil Evans (Univ Zululand), Ina, Hilton and myself will support this
process as necessary to help it get off the ground.<o:p></o:p></p>
