Whether or not a research article has been peer reviewed openly can
seemingly make a difference to the quality of the peer review, according to
research carried out by BioMed Central's Research Integrity Group and Frank
Dudbridge from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. *When two
similar journals were compared, articles that underwent an open peer review
showed a 5% improvement in the quality of the peer review reports compared
to those that underwent a single blind peer review.*
