It the same with weakened encryption. The only reason it is being discussed
at all is that it is such an arcane and technical area that the general
public is as out of its depth as politicians who rely on the
self-interested recommendations of the intelligence services. In the end it
comes down to what is a reasonable and proportionate response. *Destroying
privacy in the mistaken belief that this will make us safer is not
reasonable, proportionate or necessary.*
