EIFL receives 2014 SPARC Innovator Award

	SPARC (Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition), an 
international alliance of more than 800 academic and research libraries, 
has recognized EIFL (Electronic Information for Libraries) with its July 
2014 Innovator Award.

      EIFL-Licensing update

New agreement for SAGE Research Methods Cases

	EIFL has signed a new agreement with SAGE for SAGE Research Methods 
Cases (SRM-C). The agreement runs until 31 December 2015 and is open to 
EIFL-partner consortia and their member libraries in 42 countries.

New agreement for Edward Elgar Journals and Development Studies Ebooks

	EIFL has signed a new agreement with Edward Elgar Publishing to provide 
free access to their Journals and Development Studies Ebooks to 
libraries in 41 countries. The agreement runs until 31st December 2016.

EIFL joins Open Policy Network

	EIFL is proud to be a new member of the Open Policy Network (OPN), 
which was recently launched this May. The first project of OPN is the 
Institute of Open Leadership, aimed at training new leaders in 
education, science, and public policy fields on the values and 
implementation of openness in licensing, policies, and practices.

	In a disagreement that split mainly along north-south lines, WIPO's 
copyright committee failed for the second time this year to reach 
agreement on the conclusions of the session, leaving libraries and 
archives disappointed.

EIFL supports call to Elsevier to withdraw its TDM policy

	EIFL has joined over 40 groups and individuals in calling on Elsevier 
to withdraw its current policy on text and data mining (TDM). The letter 
expresses concern at unnecessary restrictions placed on researchers 
undertaking text and data mining.

EIFL-PLIP at IFLA 2014

	EIFL’s Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) will have a 
strong presence at IFLA2014 – the International Federation of Library

Webinar on libraries improving lives attracts wide audience

	The OCLC Webjunction Webinar Libraries as Drivers of Community

	EIFL has released a new video which shows the impact of an EIFL Public 
Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) supported project that uses 
tablet computers to support children’s education in Kibera, the largest 
slum in Eastern Africa.
