[Duraspace] Libraries, literacy and poverty reduction

ABSTRACT The monograph is on knowledge and development and the role of
libraries and information centres in Africa in supporting community
development. The challenges faced by libraries and information centres are
identified and discussed. Several library for development models are
proposed to suit different circumstances and contexts. The role of
libraries in combating poverty is also highlighted and discussed. Th

final section makes recommendations on how libraries can be strengthened to
contribute to poverty reduction
